Compare the Evenflo Portable BabySuite DLX Playard Support and Play-Away Portable Playard Lite on setup, features, and portability to pick the right travel playard for your family.
Quick answer
Choose the Portable BabySuite DLX Playard Support if you want a full-size bassinet, diaper changer, and tummy-time station in one package. Choose the Play-Away Portable Playard Lite if you need a lighter, simpler indoor/outdoor play space that sets up fast and cleans easily.
Feature depth vs. everyday simplicity
The BabySuite DLX is built for families who want a dedicated sleep and play zone with extras like a flip-away diaper changer and a full-size bassinet with toy bar. The Play-Away Lite strips things down to a water-resistant padded floor and a simple enclosure, which makes it quicker to wipe clean and less fussy for short trips or backyard use.
Neither playard is inherently better—they solve different problems. The DLX replaces multiple items at home or at grandma's, while the Lite is the one you keep by the door for park days and picnics.
Portability and setup trade-offs
The Lite's lighter design and simpler structure generally mean faster setup and takedown, which matters if you're moving it often. The DLX's added features—bassinet, changer, toy bar—add bulk and steps, so it's better suited to semi-permanent placement or trips where you'll stay put for a while.
If you need a playard that lives in your car for spontaneous outings, the Lite's streamlined build is the practical pick. If you're packing for a week at a rental house, the DLX's extra stations can reduce what else you need to bring.
When the decision is closer than it looks
If your baby is still in the bassinet stage and you want one product that handles sleep, diaper changes, and play, the DLX's integrated bassinet and changer are hard to beat. But if you already have a separate changing pad and travel crib, the Lite's lower complexity may be all you need.
Consider how often you'll actually use the extra features. A changer that flips away is convenient, but only if you're using it daily. A toy bar is great for tummy time, but a simple mat on the floor works too.
Key trade-offs at a glance
- Feature set: DLX Support includes bassinet, changer, and toy bar; Lite has a simple play space with water-resistant floor. More features mean more setup steps but fewer separate items to pack.
- Portability: Lite is designed for indoor/outdoor use and is lighter and simpler to move; DLX is bulkier due to added components. If you'll move it daily, prioritize the Lite; if it stays in one place, the DLX's extras are worth the weight.
- Cleaning and maintenance: Lite's water-resistant padded floor wipes clean easily; DLX has more fabric surfaces and components to clean. Outdoor or snack-heavy use favors the Lite's easy-clean floor.
